Reading the manufacturers blurb for the chip ski series is like reading a script for the terminator; it sounds pretty high tech. And it is... there's some seriously funky stuff goin on here. The Chip 66 ski is a ski for advanced skiers who like short, pretty turns on the piste.

CHIP 71

The Head Chip 71 ski has a litte bit more width than the chip 66 and so is slightly more stable when not on edge. It also means that it is slightly slower edge to edge and has slightly less grip. This is another great ski for good skiers who want to rip the groomers.

The Head Chip 78 ski is slightly wider again than the Chip 71 ski and is therefore slightly more of an all mountain ski. I would say its much more capable as a ski for groomers and in bounds carvery.

Following the Head naming pattern the Icon TT 40.0 ski is a slightly toned down version of its brothers with a slightly softer flex. It is cheaper than the rest of the chip range so will suit and intermediate, progressing piste skier who needs a bit of give in their ski.

The Head Peak 88 ski is a great all mountain cruising ski which loves long turns and straight lines. Head may say 80% powder but I feel that this ski is really better as an on piste crud cruising ski. Ski at one of those mountains where the grooming sucks? Want to get everywhere on the mountain without having to always push that little bit too hard? This is probably the ski for you.

The Head Peak 82 ski is slightly narrower than the Peak 88 and is consequently a little better on the piste. Its got a quicker edge to edge time and a little more grip when it gets slick. This is a great ski for carvin up the pistes with the occasional play in the powder thrown in.

The Head Jimi 110 ski is one is designed to float in the deep stuff and float it does. Its got a pretty epic radius and a rocker in the tip. This ski rises to the top even if you dig your tip in which makes it pretty hard to catch an edge when you are in the pow. Loves to go in fast straight lines and has a medium flex for nice mellow turns. Psychaldelic graphics too, maaan.

The John 94 is possibly the best all rounder in the HEAD lineup. Although we can't make up our mind about the name!! It has kust the right width and sidecut profile to allow for good turns anywheer on the mountain. Its slightly stiffer than a park ski but slightly softer than heads race ski line up.

The Head J.O. Pro is the ski which Jon Olssen uses to perform some of the coolest tricks that the world has ever seen. Its also stiff enough to make it a really good all rounder for the rest of the mountain- if a little on the thin side for deep powder.

The Head Power One ski is aimed at the best of the ladies who like to stick to the piste. Its relatively stiff for a womans ski yet light enough to be thrown around. The narrower waist gives a quick edge to edge time and a great bite from the edges when its hard. The only issue the girls on the skimountain team have with this one is the colour, white! It's a bit of a marmite thing, you love it or you hate it.
