Reglueing Skins

Reglueing Skins

I've got some Colltex skins which definitely need reglueing but not sure what to use - are the colltex glue in a roll iron on sheets the way forwards or just a tube of adhesive spread on? Any tips for cleaning the old glue off?

Re: Reglueing Skins

I'd love to hear peoples take on this as well - last time I used the colltex rolls but it was a bit disappointing with the edges peeling off and patches appearing quickly - maybe I didn't iron it on properly.  I used a soldering iron type tool with a wide blade to scrape the old glue off and that worked really well (I borrowed it from a mate - think it might have been a colltex tool specifically for the job)

Re: Reglueing Skins

i've had problems reglueing skins too - i can usually remove the old glue like Jim says no problem but always seem to fall short of a nice new set of glue.  I guess they'll probably never be as good as when new but i'm sure I must be missing something in putting it on - have tried the iron on rolls, tubes, also those patches to do partial touch up jobs, and combinations of all these.  Never fully satisfied with the results though... I ended up treating myself to new skis & skins this season though so happy days for noo!
