Introduction
Afri-Ski is a new resort being developed in northern Lesotho. Lesotho is technically a different country from South Africa. It is a enclave surrounded by South African territory so remember to take your passport! Currently, there are two ski lifts, one 914m long and the other of 1,500m long, servicing two adjacent slopes. Afri-Ski is aiming however to be the biggest and most modern ski resort in the whole of Southern Africa and ran its first successful ski season in June - August 2005.
Facilities and Services
The aim is to provide 4 months of skiing from June through to September supplementing natural snow cover with snow machines. A ski pass costs R150 per day during the week and R200 per day over weekends.
There is a ski school providing ski and snowboarding lessons and kit rental is available at the resort. From 2003 the resort provided a range of accommodation in lodges and chalets. There is also a big air jump and rails.
