Introduction
Cerro Castor is the newest ski resort in Argentina heading into its 7th season in 2008. The resort is on Mount Castor but it is quite a low resort with the base at 195m rising to a top of 1,057m.

Cerro Castor
It is the most southerly resort in the world located on the island of Tierra del Fuego. The island unusually is split with the western half being part of Chile while the eastern half within which Cerro Castor sits is part of Argentina.
Facilities and Services
Cerro Castor has 23 runs for different levels of ability and off-piste areas. Nordic skiing is also well catered for with around 20km of trails through the lengas forest. These can also be snowshoed.

Cerro Castor Piste Map
Despite the low elevation, the weather and temperature are usually quite stable giving good snow and for a reasonable length of season (officially July 9th to October 16th). This means the resort weather is a lot less brutal than some of the high Andean resorts.
Being relatively new, the resort has modern lifts, a skiing and snowboarding school, and all the other usual services, restuarants, accommodation, equipment hire etc.
Travel
You can drive from the Argentinian capital - Ushuaia on National Route 3. You can also fly to the capital which is just 26km from the resort or sail as Ushuaia has a large harbour.
