Introduction

Glacier El Martial one of two very small resorts on Tierra del Fuego, just outside the capital, Ushuaia.  The other is Wolfgang Wallner.  Cerro Castor is Tierra del Fuego's one bigger resort.

Glacier El Martial is located at the bottom of the road which heads up to said Glacier.  It is aimed at beginners and intermediates and is located 4km outisde the capital Ushuaia.  The glacier which sits at 1,050m is in fact the source of the cities fresh water.

Facilities and Services

The resort which opened in 1983 has two lifts, two trails and one restuarant. The two runs are south-facing, with the main run around 30m wide.  It is possible to access backcountry skiing from the top lift but this could be a bit of an epic.

The resort welcomes skiers, snowboarders and sledging.  Equipment can be hired at the resort.

The Glacier is popular as a tourist attraction with visitors in the summer using the chairlifts to get panoramic views over the city.  Walking trips and tours are also offered in the resort.
