"Massive Area and All Round Brilliant"

La Plagne is huge part of the Paradiski resort chain and it is really really really big. I had a brilliant time when I visited the resort for a week long holiday. I stayed at the hotel Terra Nova on a half board deal and thought it was absolutely brilliant in terms of ease, comfort and value for money. I am a lazy skier and I therefore like to have ski in, ski out accommodation when I go on holiday; there is plenty of this in the ugly village of Plagne. Who really cares about looks though, you're going here to ski, right?

If you are a beginner or intermediate then I think that this is about the best place you could go. There are so many runs to choose from and they are all perfect for improving on and will allow you to explore the whole mountain without getting stressed out about having to deal with anything steeper than you are happy with. A skier of any ability will love the mini canyon runs which wind their way through the tussocks of forest towards Plagne Centre.

There is a decent park setup above Plagne Belecotte village which can be accessed by many lifts including the Les Blanchete chair which is good, fast and comfortable. There are some great small features for learning on, but then there is a slight gap in features as the next step up is to some quite sizeable kickers. They had a great step-up and a freaky combo-transfer hit when I was there. The neighbouring resort of Les Arcs has a world class park and I would recommend that to anyone who's main interest was the park.

Because of the rolling terrain at Plagne, there are a massive number of natural features to jump off and play around with. I visited the resort when it was quite icy and still managed to get plenty of airtime under my belt. For those of you who like to get the shovel out and build kickers, there are loads of great looking spots; I'm quite sure that the potential for massive gaps, step-ups and some brilliant learning kickers is immense. When I was there someone had built a very large gap jump beside the Verdons Nord Chair.....

Experts should have a whale of a time at Plagne as there are loads of steep on-piste runs as well as a plethora of obvious off piste opportunities- I don't even think you would have to hike much for a lot of lines. The skiing on the Glacier de la Chiaupe is particularly excellent and the only real limit on lines is your own imagination.

I would say that La Plagne is a brilliant resort for everyone and maybe gets my top vote as safest bet for a week-long stay. I wouldn't like to do a season here as there just doesn't seem to be enough substance to the town and the standard of skiing didn't suggest a super-enthusiastic rider-base. Big thumbs up for the terrain though. I forgot to mention that there is some very high terrain at this place and it is therefore safe bet for snow cover.
