The clue's in the name - Roundhill Ski Area is a great small ski area for anyone looking for a really chilled out start to skiing or snow boarding.  Roundhill is in the heart of the Mackenzie Country which means there is some fantastic scenery close by including Mount Cook and Lake Tekapo. The terrain at Roundhill is just that - a round hill - nothing intimidating, just nice wide gentle slopes with plenty of snow canons ensuring good snow and generally great weather too!

Roundhill is not exactly close to any of the big towns - its around 3 hours from Christchurch, 3 hours from Queenstown, 1½ hours from Timaru, an hour from Fairlie and half an our from Tekapo (but Tekapo is tiny!).

You get to Roundhill by driving around 30km's along the eastern shore of lake Tekapo & then turning up the (easily drivable)access road to the base at 1360m. 

Roundhill has plenty of snow making which means it can open without any natural snow and apart from the fact that its in the middle of no-where, its one of New Zealand’s finest family ski areas.

The wide gentle slopes are ideal for beginners and intermediates. Roundhill is an ideal family ski area where everyone can enjoy a great day on the slopes together. It's also great for those who haven't skied for a while who want to brush up their technique, or for those wanting to make an easy transition from skiing to snowboarding.

Roundhill's main lift is a T-Bar - according to the resort this is New Zealand's longest at 1.2km with 255m of vertical. The learner platter lift is situated on a wide gentle slope, especially for beginners.
