Introduction
Selwyn Snowfields is relatively modest family run operation. It is a small ski are that provides good beginners and family-orientated skiing. The Snowfields are located in the Kosciuszko National Park, 7km from the town of Kiandra amidst the Snowy Mountains. The resort is just over two hours from Canberra and is "easy access". You can drive right to the slopes with plenty of parking.
In 1997 and 1998, the Snowfields expanded their snowmaking system to cover nearly 80% of the mountain. This is the largest percentage of any of Australia's ski areas, guaranteeing snow whatever the weather does.
Facilities and Activities
The rolling hills are served by 11 lifts giving access to gentle slopes that are suited more to beginners and intermediates, rather than experts.
Selwyn has ample areas for beginner skiing and snowboarding for all abilities. The resort also has two snowtube parks, tobogganing, snow biking, snow play areas, cross country skiing and snow shoeing. Selwyn also has all the usual facilities for a ski resort of this size, restaurants, shops, bars, accommodation and ski hire.
