Tukino

"A small club field on the eastern slopes of the Mt Ruapehu volcano"

Tukino is nestled on the eastern slopes of the Mt Ruapehu volcano in New Zealand’s North Island.  Tukino Ski Field is a small club ski area with a generally pretty cool atmosphere as with most of New Zealand's club fields.  The Tukino area is operated and maintained by club members.  It is reached using a 4WD access road approximately 35 kilometers from Waiouru - you need to carry chains and be prepared to use them!  If you're driving up in wild conditions, make sure you're not on your own and let one of the club locals go first!

Tukino Piste Map

There can be fairly extensive off-piste skiing at Tukino with terrain being accessed either by touring or by using one of the two nutcracker rope tows.

If you've skied the other ski resorts on the other side of Mt Ruapehu and fancy a completely different experience, why not head here for a day and soak up the club field experience.
