Introduction
Valdelen is right at the southern tip of mainland Argentina. It is an extremely small resort and is marketed more as a Centre for Winter Sports. It is located just 4km from the town of Rio Turbio and it is situated on the border with Chile where the area as a whole is known as 'Mina 1'.
This is the very end of the Andean mountain chain and is heavily forested. Despite its size, Valdelen receives a large number of visitors which is hard to fathom as the skiing is vert limited and strictly for beginners and low level intermediates.
Facilities and Services
Valdelen has two lifts and three prepared runs, two are suitable for intermediate skiers or boarders and one is a beginner slope. There is no off-piste to speak of due to the thick tree cover, therefore, similar to Perito Moreno, this is not an area for the advanced skier or boarder but is good for a couple of hours for a beginner. The ski season at Valdelen runs from May to September.

Valdelen Tow
The closest accommodation to the slopes in the La Fontera hotel which has a cafe and facilities if you are taking a break from skiing. More accommodation and services are available in Rio Turbio. Various tours operate out of the village and you are also just a few miles from the border if you want to cross into Chile.
Travel
You can drive to Valdelen but the quickest way, unless you are in the vicinity is to fly from Buenos Aires to the local airport at Rio Gallegos. A bus transfer will cover the remaining 170miles.
